Kevin Black draws some of the highest-volume, most detailed praise of any instructor researched here — reviewers consistently point to an uncompromising, no-shortcuts approach where skills have to be genuinely demonstrated rather than signed off because time ran out, paired with real patience when something isn't clicking yet. DPV/scooter training comes up specifically more than once as an area where his depth of knowledge stands out even for already-experienced technical divers. The throughline across dozens of reviews is a calm, methodical teaching style that pushes students well past the minimum requirements without ever feeling rushed.
